Description for B&B:
The De Battisti family constructed this house during the late 17th century, making it the only residence in the district that resembled a Patrician dwelling. Throughout the centuries, it attracted numerous notable individuals, including Count De Boissieux, Count de Marbeuf, Viscount de Barin, and the esteemed Sir Gilbert Elliot, the viceroy of Corsica. In the 19th century, the house underwent a transformation into a luxurious hotel, catering to esteemed guests like Gustave de Flaubert, Joseph Multedo, the Duc of Orleans, and Prosper Mérimée. However, after the closure of the hotel, this magnificent place fell into disrepair and was abandoned for many years.
Today, our family has painstakingly renovated and transformed the property into a guest house named A Casa Reale. It serves as a haven of tranquility in the heart of the city. The guest house offers a spacious terrace with breathtaking views of the nearby sea and dock, a 70-square-meter living room adorned with an impressive bookshelf, a cozy area for relaxation, complete with a television and games, and a grand piano from a Prussian factory dating back to 1904, which was originally gifted to Belgian King Leopold.
The restoration of the house has been carried out with the utmost care, preserving its authenticity and capturing the soul and style of the old patrician residence. Every detail has been carefully considered, from the choice of craftsmen to the selection of materials, including handmade terracotta tiles, meticulously restored moldings by a master plasterer, and century-old cement tiles. The result is a picturesque and unique atmosphere where modern and antique furnishings harmoniously coexist in perfect balance.
