Nestled between history and legend lies the captivating Mt Viso, known as the "stone king", standing tall at 3841 meters. This majestic mountain has captivated travelers throughout the ages. Located in the Marquisate, an Occitan territory, it is situated in the Po valley, where Italy's longest river originates.

The landscape is dotted with castles, abbeys, and monasteries, and its ancient mule tracks and dirt roads have been traversed by monks, merchants, knights, and brigands. The legendary "road of salt", a vital trade route to France, was not only traveled by men, but also served as a pathway for the transportation of salt, anchovies, oil, spices, textiles, and goods.

In this region, the "Mt Viso hole" was carved out beneath the Traversette col at an altitude of 2882 meters. Serving as an irregular tunnel, it facilitated the passage of loaded mules and hunched men.

Merchants from Dauphiné, Provence, and Burgundy would wander from farm to farm, crossing the Alps, descending the hills, and arriving in the plain. Many of these wayfarers would stop at the ancient inn, where Virginia would warmly welcome them with a smile, a hot meal, and the comforting warmth of the fireplace.

Today, after extensive restoration, the "Virginia" has reopened its doors. Step inside and immerse yourself in the rustic and cozy ambiance of the past, with stone, wood, terracotta, and antique furnishings. The rooms are adorned with warm colors, reminiscent of traditional rural houses.

Our seven rooms are tastefully furnished with wooden and wrought-iron beds, wardrobes, and desks, paying homage to folk culture. The curtains evoke the elegance of Occitan boiserie found in ancient mansions.

For our guests, we offer spacious common areas including a sitting room, breakfast and dining room, and a library with a fireplace where you can unwind and relax. In the basement, you will find a generous cellar where you can savor wines and taste typical products from this Occitan region.

We offer six double rooms and one triple room, all with private bathrooms. Enjoy a buffet breakfast and amenities such as TV, telephone, fax, and internet access. Our private car park is available for your convenience. We also provide the opportunity to taste and purchase typical products, some of which are produced on our own farm. Explore our wine cellar and indulge in our selection of wines and food.
