Description:

Description for B&B:

Experience the charm of a 17th-century farm-house nestled in the untouched wilderness of the Girona Pyrenees. A paradise for hiking and mountain-biking enthusiasts, this secluded retreat is surrounded by miles of woods and tranquil silence, where only the moon and stars light up the night sky. Perched on a mountain pass, the house boasts breathtaking views of two valleys and enjoys over 300 sunny days a year.

Our beautifully refurbished house, where we reside, offers two guest-rooms on the first floor and an independent apartment on the ground floor. The larger room features a double bed and a double futon sofa-bed, along with a private bathroom. The second room offers two single beds. Guests also have access to a dining room reserved exclusively for them, complete with a wood-burning stove. The apartment boasts a spacious and luminous hall with high vaulted ceilings, an American kitchen, a cozy fireplace, a large dining table, and a comfortable living area with a sofa-bed. Additionally, the apartment includes a sleeping room with a double bed and a set of bunk beds, a generous bathroom, and a charming garden terrace with stone vaults and a barbecue.

Our self-sufficient house relies on a central fireplace for heating and solar panels for electricity. We take pride in producing our own bread, pasta, game sausages, marmalades, and jams from our fruit trees, wild berries, and nuts. We also cultivate organic vegetables and raise chickens and ducks. For those who wish to indulge in our specialties, we offer half-board and full-board service, utilizing our organic products as well as those sourced from local farmers.

Situated in a privileged middle-mountain area, with elevations ranging from 600 to 1,500 meters above sea level, our location provides a breathtaking vantage point over the shimmering Empordà plain that stretches towards the sea. Welcome to Alta Garrotxa, a rugged and solitary region characterized by a diverse and contrasting landscape. Bask in the Mediterranean dry forest on the sun-drenched slopes, adorned with holly oaks, oaks, and pine trees, or explore the lush and humid vegetation on the shady side, featuring chestnut trees, beeches, and black poplars. Discover deep ravines, babbling mountain streams, cascades, alpine meadows, sheer rock walls, and karstic formations. Despite its historical scarcity in terms of population, this region is dotted with scattered farm-houses and Romanesque chapels perched in seemingly impossible spots. Encounter deer, wild pigs, hares, and foxes rather than fellow humans as you immerse yourself in the symphony of bird calls. With no electricity, telephone cables, or asphalt to disrupt the natural beauty of this 32,865-hectare area, you can truly escape the demands of daily life and find solace in nature. Wander beneath the enchanting shade of the chestnut forest, relax on a hammock under an oak tree, and revel in the peace and tranquility that surrounds you. Just a short 15-minute drive away lies the river Muga, a heavenly oasis in the summer, where you can dive into its crystal-clear natural pools. Autumn promises the thrill of mushroom hunting, gathering chestnuts, figs, and blackberries, while spring brings the delights of wild strawberries, cherries, asparagus, and even more mushrooms. In winter, you can enjoy a lightly dusted landscape under a clear blue sky, without the extreme cold of higher altitudes.

We offer guided hiking tours and horse-back tours for those eager to discover the region's most breathtaking vistas. Marvel at the rugged terrain, the diverse landscapes, and over 40 Romanesque chapels dating back to the 10th to 12th centuries when this region constituted the southernmost Christian lands. Explore the intricate network of winding trails, which bear witness to the historical strategic importance of this area for those traversing the Pyrenees on foot. Serious mountain-bikers will find several marked routes that cut through this extraordinary region.

Appréciations pour ClardeBosc, Albanyà:

Can coll
Review by: Claire, Nov 6 2012 3:52PM
