Description for Gite

The DER Lake is renowned for its significant role in bird conservation, serving as a breeding ground, wintering habitat, and migratory stopover for over 200 bird species, including some that are protected. The lake boasts three marinas: Nemours Port, Nuisement Port, and Giffaumont Nautical Station, all of which have been awarded the blue flag label for their exceptional facilities and services.

Visitors to DER Lake can enjoy a range of activities, such as swimming at any of the six beaches, fishing, and various water sports like windsurfing, power boating, and water skiing. The area also offers approximately 250 km of well-marked hiking trails and cycling paths, designed for circumnavigating the lake in 38 km or connecting to Saint-Dizier via the 12 km long Marne canal.

The Der region is also known for its charming half-timbered religious buildings, such as the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin in Châtillon-sur-Broué. To explore these architectural gems dating back to the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries, a designated tourist route for churches has been established.

In close proximity to the lake, visitors can discover the nationally recognized Montier-en-Der stud farm, the Protestant Museum, and the Romanesque church in Wassy. Additionally, the towns of Vitry-le-François, Saint-Dizier, and Bar-le-Duc provide further opportunities for exploration. For nature enthusiasts, the Orient Forest Regional Natural Park, located nearby, features a series of artificial lakes created to regulate the flooding of the Seine River.

LA ROSERAIE is easily accessible by road, with options including departmental road 13 from Vitry-le-François, departmental road 384 from Saint-Dizier, departmental roads 153 and 4, and the RN 67 when traveling from Wassy, Joinville, Chaumont, or Dijon. For those coming from Montier-en-Der, departmental road 12 provides a convenient route. The nearest aerodrome is Vitry-le-François - Vauclerc, while the closest SNCF station is located in Saint-Dizier.
