Located in the beautiful Cumeadas do Baixo Guadiana, this place offers incredible natural beauty and is the perfect environment for rural tourism. The century-old farmhouse, along with its barn and stables, has been transformed into five comfortable self-catering apartments. During the restoration process, the architectural style of the Algarve was diligently preserved.

The apartments are fully equipped with everything you need, including a kitchenette with utensils, linens, toiletries, duvets, wood, and air conditioning. Every detail has been taken care of to ensure that you feel at home.

There is a front yard that serves as a common area, where you can relax, have an aperitif, collect fruits, or enjoy a barbecue in the shade of the porch. The apartments are spread across different levels and can accommodate anywhere from 2 to 6 people.

We offer services such as airport pick-up and transportation from the train or bus stations. Pets are also welcome, but please consult with us beforehand.

Domingos and Anabela, the hosts, have found a special place in this valley to live with their children. They hope that you and your family and friends will not only enjoy the natural beauty of the area but also appreciate its rich historical heritage.

About Castro Marim:
Castro Marim is located in the Algarve province and is close to the Campaign zone and the beach. You can find maps, photos, comments, information, and places of interest in the area.

Accommodation:
The Houses of Old Haystack are a collection of spaces that form part of a farmhouse. The construction dates back to the first half of the 19th century, and the rehabilitation process has preserved its traditional architecture.

Located in Castro Marim, a small town with an impressive castle, these houses offer tranquility and the charm of rural life, just a short drive away from the beautiful beaches of Monte Gordo Bay.

The houses have undergone careful rehabilitation to preserve the organic architecture of the region, using traditional materials such as sugar cane, lime, wood, stone, Santa Catarina tiles, and wool for insulation.

Environmental preservation has been a priority from the start. Domestic wastewater is piped to a filter pit for primary treatment before being purified by halophyte plants and shrubs from the coast. The purified water is then used for irrigation purposes.

The Houses of the old barn consist of five accommodations, including three bedrooms and two suites. The rooms have double beds (one of them has an additional chair bed), and the suites have queen beds, a mezzanine, and a lounge area with a kitchenette and stove. All spaces are equipped with TV, air conditioning, and private bathrooms with showers. Additionally, there is a breakfast room, garden, swimming pool, barbecue area, and parking available.

The surroundings are peaceful, with stunning views of the well-preserved nature. You can observe agricultural workers and grazing sheep. The property is also conveniently located near two golf courses, the Beliche dam, and the beaches of Monte Gordo Bay.

To reach us, you can fly to Faro airport and take the A22 towards Spain. Take the last exit before the International Guadiana Bridge, follow the IC 27, and then take the EN 122 to Junqueira, where Montes Castelhanos and the Casas do Palheiro Velho are located.
