Description for B&B:
As Dutch natives, we are fluent in English, French, and German, so please feel free to contact us in your preferred language. The former residence of the Mayor, located at 21 Rue des Halles, directly across from the Council House in the charming oyster harbor village of Mornac sur Seudre, showcases a unique architectural style. Designed by architect Jean Buneau from the fashionable seaside resort of Royan, this grand Charentais townhouse stands out in contrast to the picturesque Celtic fishing village of Mornac, resembling the elegance of 19th century Paris.
Built with carved stone, the house exudes a certain elegance combined with a touch of shabby chic, a cherished atmosphere preserved by the current owners.
The Courtyard
A delightful walled courtyard awaits at the back of the house, where, weather permitting, we serve a generous breakfast at a refectory table under a large parasol. This same space also provides a lovely setting for pre-dinner cocktails.
The Pool
Discreetly tucked away in the corner of the courtyard is a small swimming pool, perfect for a refreshing dip whenever desired.
The Tea Garden
Located across the pathway at the rear of the house, the enchanting tea garden is adorned with a mature cherry tree that blossoms with luscious cherries in May, offering welcome shade throughout the summer. The classical garden furniture invites relaxation and enjoyment of afternoon tea.
The Dining Room
For those rare occasions when the weather does not allow for alfresco breakfast, our stylish Salle à Manger provides a cozy alternative. Furnished with a touch of Monsieur Rouffineau's intended style, it creates a warm and inviting ambiance.
The Library
Our well-stocked bookshelves offer an extensive selection of reading material and information in various languages. La Bibliothèque can also be used for board games and card evenings, and the piano is available for accomplished amateurs to play.
