Dar Al Bahar, appropriately named "the house by the sea," is situated on the city ramparts of Essaouira in the "San Dion" district. This charming abode stands proudly facing the vast ocean and its invigorating trade winds. The terrace offers a captivating view of perpetual motion, with winds crashing against the coastal rocks, creating a mesmerizing spectacle. Additionally, from this vantage point, one can relish in the panoramic vistas of the medina, encompassing the ancient Scala fortress and the Mellah, once the vibrant Jewish quarter. In the distance, the sand dunes gracefully merge with the city's northern outskirts.

The renovation of this early 20th-century house, originally constructed during a time when Essaouira flourished, has been masterfully carried out by Jean-Claude and Lise, a French-Dutch couple. In the past, this area of Essaouira thrived due to the presence of an authentic windmill - now in ruins - which used to supply flour to the city and its surrounding areas. The street, Touahen, which translates to "mill" in Arabic, still bears the memory of this historic structure.

Presently, the tranquility of Dar Al Bahar is only interrupted by the crashing waves and the echoing calls of seagulls, making it an idyllic haven by the sea.
