Whether you are hiking alone or with your family, exploring the area on a bike or motorcycle, or simply seeking solitude and peacefulness, Grange d'Anjeux caters to a wide range of recreational interests. People with diverse needs and interests can enjoy wonderful holidays or long weekends with us.Anjeux is located 5 km west of Saint-Loup-sur-Semouse and approximately 30 km north of the city of Vesoul. Situated at an elevation of 242 m, the village is positioned on the northernmost part of the department, in the Chanois stream valley to the west of the low ground of Planey, near the Vosges plateau.
Covering an area of 8.71 km², the commune features a slightly hilly landscape on the outskirts of the Vosges. To the east, the commune is bordered by the low ground of Planey, which starts from a karst source and flows approximately 7 km southwards into the Semouse river. The average elevation of the valley is around 235 m, and it spans about one kilometer in width. Within the region of Anjeux, the Planey stream is joined by the Dorgeon and Chanois tributaries. The eastern boundary is marked by the hill of the Fays forest, reaching a height of 303 m, which acts as a watershed in the Semouse valley.
In the northwest, the commune extends into the Chanois stream valley and the hills near Haute de Calenne and Charmot, reaching an elevation of approximately 260 m. The northern border is defined by the forest of La Levue.
Anjeux shares its borders with several neighboring towns: to the north, Dampvalley-Saint-Pancras and Cuve; to the west, Girefontaine; to the south, La Pisseure, Plainemont, and Jasney; and to the east, Bouligney and Saint-Loup-sur-Semouse.
The region has been inhabited since Roman times. During the Middle Ages, Anjeux was part of the Free County of Burgundy. From 1271 onwards, it fell under the dominion of various powers, including the Luxeil-les-Bains abbey and the Faucogney family. The peace treaty of Nijmegen in 1678 brought Anjeux under the rule of Franche-Comté in France.
The Church of Anjeux, built in the flamboyant Gothic style during the 15th and 16th centuries, is classified as a historical monument. The 19th-century wash house is also worth a visit.
Towards the low ground of Planey, to the south of the road from Anjeux to Bouligney, there are still remnants of the La Sarrasinière castle, nestled within a small grove.
One of the main attractions in the area is the Planey source, which displays a mesmerizing array of blue and green hues, depending on the weather.
